Server Message Search

NuevaSync Push Email Service supports searching for messages. This usually gives a better user experience vs. attempting to sync large numbers of old messages to the device.

Please read the device-specific notes below:

iPhone

Apple devices may not recognize the new protocol right away so it's a good idea to delete and re-create the sync account on your phone. Once advanced features are enabled on your account, the message search screen should show a "Continue Search on Server..." link like this:

The iPhone has a very short time out on the fetching of search result messages and although we have a few tricks in the service to get the response to the device quickly, sometimes it won't get there in time and you'll see the message "This message has not been downloaded from the server." shown on the left below. If this happens, scroll down the page to reveal the magic retry button shown on the right below and click it. That will usually retrieve the message. If not, click it again!

Windows Mobile

Server message search is available on the Tools menu. Unlike the iPhone, there are no special issues with downloading the results.

Other Device Types

Palm Pre phones will display HTML email without any need for device configuration changes. It also automatically upgrades without user-intervention usually, but if it doesn't delete the device sync setup and then re-create it.

RoadSync should support the new features but we have not tested it yet.
